EC Entertains Lions

Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College men's basketball team fell 78-63 to the College of Mount St. Joseph in Saturday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.

Dustin Rusk (Frankfort, IN, Clinton Prairie) posted his third double-double of the season and of his career as he led the Quakers with 20 points and 11 rebounds. He also had three assists.

Jack O'Flaherty (Sheridan, IN, Sheridan) finished with 16 points and three assists, while Tyler Lewers (Indianapolis, IN, Gary West) contributed 11 points and three assists. Blake Welch (Lynn, IN, Randolph Southern) tossed in nine points.

The Quakers held an early 14-10 advantage after Rusk hit a pair of free throws at the 13:48 mark of the opening half.

The Lions (8-15, 7-9) eventually tied the contest at 16-16 with 12:33 to go. By intermission, the Lions led 37-27.

In the second half, Mount St. Joseph started the period with an 11-2 run to lead 48-29 with 16:48 remaining in the contest. The Lions were able to maintain their distance the rest of the way.

Earlham (2-21, 1-15) celebrates Senior Day on Wednesday as the Quakers entertain the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology at 7:30 p.m. Rusk and Marty Broderick (Mooresville, IN, Mooresville) will be recognized before the HCAC game.
