Quakers Fall to Pioneers

Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. â€" The Earlham College men's basketball team dropped an 89-63 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference decision on Wednesday to Transylvania University.

Chris Holmes led the Quakers with 21 points in the contest on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.

Jack O'Flaherty and Alonzo Genelin tossed in a dozen points apiece, while Michael Parker and Phillip Boone finished with seven points each. Parker added five rebounds.

Kirk Douglas led the Quakers with six rebounds.

Earlham led 4-0 early after a dunk by Douglas at the 18:20 mark.

However, the Pioneers (5-9, 3-4) had a answer with nine straight points to lead 9-4 at 15:05.

Eventually, Transylvania would lead 19-10 with 11:39 left in the opening stanza.

A rally for the Quakers put them on top after Genelin scored to make it 24-23 at 7:06.

After Transylvania took the lead, Holmes scored to put the Quakers in front 26-25 with 6:26 on the clock.

By halftime, the Pioneers put a run together to lead 42-32.

In the second half, Earlham cut the deficit to 54-46 after Holmes hit a pair of free throws with 13:40 remaining, but that was as close as the Quakers could get the rest of the way.   

The Quakers (2-12, 1-6) are at home on Saturday against Anderson University. The HCAC affair begins at 3 p.m.
