EC Visits Transylvania

Box Score LEXINGTON, Ky. â€" The Earlham College men's basketball team had three players in double figures on Wednesday as the Quakers traveled to Transylvania University.

The Pioneers won the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest 90-71.

Jack O'Flaherty led the Quakers with 18 points, while Kirk Douglas added 17 points.

Lajay Kelly record the first double-double of his career with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Michael Parker finished with nine points and a team-high four steals.

The Quakers led early in the game holding a 9-4 advantage after a dunk by Douglas at the 15:24 mark of the opening period.

Moments later, Kelly gave the Quakers an 11-6 lead as he converted a pair of free throws with 14:40 left.

Douglas eventually put the Quakers in front by their largest margin at 11:46 to make it 18-11.

The Pioneers (7-11, 5-6) were able to come back to tie the affair at 25-25 with 8:12 remaining in the first half. Transylvania followed with a 16-5 run to lead 41-30 and the Pioneers were able hold to stay on top 45-35 by the intermission.

In the second half, Douglas scored the first basket of the frame before Transylvania was able to establish a double-digit margin.

Earlham (3-15, 2-9) returns to action at home on Saturday against the College of Mount St. Joseph. The HCAC contest on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center at 3 p.m.
