RICHMOND, Ind. â€" The Earlham College volleyball team battled Hanover College on Wednesday night on Schuckman Court as the Quakers fell 25-11, 25-12, 30-28.
After falling behind by two sets in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference affair, the Quakers fought back in the third against the Panthers (12-13, 3-1)
Earlham opened a 13-8 advantage, which was the largest lead of the night for the Quakers. They eventually led 14-10 before the Panthers answered with seven straight points to grab a 17-14 lead.
The Quakers eventually tied the contest at 21-21 and again at 24-24 when Jolene Wells spoiled a set point for the Panthers with a kill.
Wells added two more kills with the final one making it 28-28 before Hanover finally put together two consecutive points to win the match.
The 30-28 score was the highest total for a set this season for the Quakers. The previous high was in a 28-26, 25-22, 25-22 win over Wilmington College on Sept. 3.
Wells, Kayla Morris and Emily Lim led the Quakers with eight kills each.
Ashley Hedrick had 14 assists. Morris led the way with nine digs, while Lim added seven. Wells had a team-high six blocks.
The Quakers (4-18, 0-5) entertain HCAC foe Manchester University at home on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
