Quakers Tie HCAC Contest with Manchester

Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. â€" The Earlham College women's soccer team celebrated Senior Day and Homecoming on Saturday as the Quakers finished with a 1-1 tie in double overtime with Manchester University.

After a scoreless opening period, Earlham scored first in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Matlack Field at 69:31 when Cherrah Barclay gave the Quakers the lead. Jordan Matthews assisted on the play.

Manchester (7-8-1, 4-2-1) tied the match at 88:34 and neither squad could score from that point.

The Spartans led 22-13 in shots and 6-3 in corner kicks.

Earlham goalkeeper Ashley (A.J.) Johnson had nine saves for the Quakers with four coming in the overtime sessions.

Prior to the Senior Day contest, Betelihem (Betty) Alemu, Molly Altreuter and Gia Casaburo were recognized for their time in soccer program.

The Quakers (5-9-2, 2-4-1) are back in action at home on Wednesday against Defiance College at 3:30 p.m.
