EC Opens HCAC Play

Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. â€" Most of the offense happened early on Saturday as the Earlham College women's soccer team fell 3-1 to Anderson University.

The Ravens (6-4, 1-0) got on the scoreboard at 5:56 of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest, but the Quakers were able to respond quickly to excite the Matlack Field crowd.

Betelihem (Betty) Alemu picked up the goal for the Quakers at the 9:25 mark to tie the match at 1-1. Kelly Mayhew assisted on the play.

Anderson answered at 10:27 as the Ravens would led 2-1 at intermission. Anderson finished the scoring at 82:39.

The Ravens led 15-8 in shots, while the Quakers topped Anderson in corner kicks 8-2.

Earlham goalkeeper Ashley (A.J.) Johnson had three saves for the Quakers.

The Quakers (3-6-1, 0-1) face Hanover College at home on Tuesday. The conference match is at 4 p.m.
