Quakers Visit Oberlin

Box Score

OBERLIN, Ohio — A slow start in the second half proved to be the difference on Tuesday as the Earlham College men's basketball team fell 53-42 at Oberlin College

After being tied 19-19 at halftime, the Quakers didn't score for six minutes in the second period until Taylen Alexander drilled a 3-pointer at 14:00, which cut Earlham's deficit to 29-22.

From that point, Oberlin was able to maintain its distance from the Quakers in the non-conference affair.

Alexander led the Quakers with 15 points, while Elijah Wilson-Thomas added 12 points. Lajay Kelly tossed in six points.

Wilson-Thomas, Kamari Hunter and Patrick Hawkins topped the squad with four rebounds each.
Hunter finished with a team-high five assists for the Quakers

Oberlin (3-1) grabbed an early 9-0 advantage in the first half by the 16:43 mark. The Yeomen eventually led 18-8 with 5:51 remaining in the opening stanza before the Quakers rallied.

The half ended with Alexander finding Wilson-Thomas for a reverse layup to tie the contest at the buzzer.

The Quakers (0-2) are back on the court Saturday afternoon in the opening round of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference/Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Challenge at Manchester University. Earlham meets Trine University at 1 p.m.
