Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College men's basketball team played for the first time on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center this season as the Quakers fell 59-46 to Bluffton University.
Elijah Wilson-Thomas led the Quakers with 13 points in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference affair against the Beavers (3-2, 1-0).
Patrick Hawkins finished with 10 points, five rebounds and a team-high three steals. Lajay Kelly grabbed six rebounds to pace the Quakers.
Earlham had an early lead in the contest at 6-4 when Hawkins nailed a 3-pointer with 17:03 left in the first half.
Eventually, the Beavers were able to hold a lead of six points twice before they were in front 26-23 at the intermission.
After Hawkins scored the initial basket of the second half to make it 26-25 at 18:32, the Beavers went on a 14-2 run to lead 40-27 with 12:51 left to play.
Kelly scored at 5:41 to close the gap for Earlham to 47-40 before the Beavers were able to hold off the Quakers the rest of the way.
The Quakers (0-5, 0-1) entertain HCAC foe Manchester University on Saturday at 4 p.m.
