Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College men's basketball team came up short on Tuesday night as the Quakers fell 70-63 to Denison University.
Earlham had four players in double figures as Taylen Alexander led the Quakers with 17 points in the non-conference contest on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.
Joe Adams, Kyle Smith and Patrick Hawkins finished with 11 points each. Adams also pulled down a team-high six rebounds.
Lajay Kelly added nine points and four rebounds.
Denison (8-3) had a 8-0 lead by the 15:11 mark of the first half. Hawkins hit a 3-pointer for Earlham's initial score to make it 8-3 at 13:23.
The Big Red eventually built at 40-24 advantage by halftime.
In the second period, the Quakers started their way back into the contest.
Kamari Hunter scored to make it 50-41 with 12:51 left to play.
Earlham was able to cut the deficit to two points twice with the final time coming after Adams scored to make it 62-60 with 1:43 remaining. Denison was able to hold off the Quakers from that point.
The Quakers (0-10) begin 2015 with a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest Saturday on the road against Franklin College at 3 p.m.
