EC Battles Manchester in HCAC Contest

RICHMOND, Ind. — A pair of free by Manchester University with three seconds left provided the Spartans with a 62-58 margin over the Earlham College men's basketball team on Saturday.

The Quakers had three players in double figures with Elijah Wilson-Thomas leading the way with 17 points in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference affair on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.

Taylen Alexander and Darius Meiman added 12 points each for the Quakers. Joe Adams tossed in nine points. Alexander topped the squad with six assists, while Wilson-Thomas had team-high totals of four rebounds and three steals.

The Quakers began the contest with a 17-10 lead after Wilson-Thomas made three free throws at the 12:40 mark of the first half.

By halftime, the Quakers held a 34-27 advantage.

Manchester started the second period with a 9-1 run that put the Spartans on top 36-35 with 15:15 remaining in the game.

The Spartans were able to build a 49-42 lead with 10:20 left before the Quakers answered.

Meiman hit the second of two free throws to put Earlham in front 56-55 at the 5:38 mark. The Spartans scored at 3:16 to take a 57-56 lead that they would hold on to the rest of the way.
Earlham (0-6, 0-2) visits DePauw University on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
