RICHMOND, Ind. â€" Cherrah Barclay set off a celebration on Saturday as she scored into an empty net to give the Earlham College women's soccer team a 2-1 double overtime victory over Heidelberg University.
Challenged by Heidelberg goalie Kenzie Lundqvist, Barclay won the battle and the result was an open net that ended the contest on Matlack Field at the 1:02:23 mark.
It was Barclay's fifth score of the season and 12th of her career.
Quakers Score FirstEarlham grabbed the lead in the first half on a goal by Micaela Bush at 20:31 with an assist coming from Barclay.
Heidelberg (1-5-1) tied the contest at 73:54 to eventually send the affair into the extra sessions.
Heidelberg led 13-8 in shots, while the Quakers held a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Earlham goalkeeper Ashley (A.J.) Johnson had 10 saves for the Quakers. She had seven in the second half and two more in the first overtime period.
The Quakers (3-3-1) entertain Denison University on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
