Quakers Win Twice on Sunday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 RICHMOND, Ind. â€" One win was convincing, while the other became a come-from-behind victory.

The Earlham College volleyball team picked up a pair of wins on Sunday as the the Quaker Classic came to a conclusion.

Earlham started the day with a 25-15, 25-22, 25-23 win over the University of Michigan-Dearborn. The afternoon ended with a 20-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-20, 16-14 Earlham victory over Wilmington College.

Earlham Head Coach Jason Yhost was pleased with his team, especially after the second victory.

"They took that win," Yhost said of the defeat of Wilmington. "They didn't wait for the other team. They got competitive and made adjustments themselves."

"Wilmington was coming off a five-set win (over Michigan-Dearborn)," Yhost continued. "Everything was going their way. It was a learning experience and a chance for our players to gain some confidence."

In the opener, Kayla Morris led the Quakers with 13 kills. Jolene Wells added 11 kills and a team-high seven blocks.

Ashley Hedrick had 19 assists. Emily Lim contributed six kills, eight assists, eight digs and five blocks.

Against Wilmington, Morris topped the squad with 26 kills. Wells finished with 18 kills and seven blocks.

Lim added nine kills, 13 assists and 15 digs. Hedrick had 33 assists and four service aces.

The Quakers (3-5) play in the Maryville College Invitational next weekend. On Friday, Earlham faces Oglethorpe at 11 a.m.
