Box Score DEFIANCE, Ohio — The Earlham College men's basketball team had three players in double figures on Wednesday as the Quakers fell 80-63 at Defiance College.
Taylen Alexander led the Quakers with 15 points in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference affair against the second-place Yellow Jackets (12-4, 7-2).
Lajay Kelly tossed in 13 points with a team-high six rebounds, while Joe Adams finished with 12 points. Patrick Hawkins contributed seven points.
The game was tight early as the Quakers trailed 8-6 after a basket by Kamari Hunter with 17:29 left in the first half.
Defiance answered with 11 straight points to build a 19-6 advantage at the 15:07 mark.
Kelly got the Quakers closer at 22-15 with a score at 11:02, but the Yellow Jackets responded to take a 48-24 lead by the intermission.
In the second half, Kelly scored to cut the deficit to 52-37 with 15:06 remaining, but the was as close as the Quakers were able to get therest of the way.
The Quakers (0-16, 0-9) visit Manchester University on Saturday. The HCAC contest gets underway at 4 p.m.
