Men's Soccer Back to .500 with Win

CINCINNATI, Ohio – Sophomore Nicholas Dey scored his seventh goal of the season as the Earlham College men's soccer team edged Bluffton 1-0 at Matlack Field on Saturday.

Dey scored in the 17th minute using a pass from freshman Yuki Adams. The Quakers held a 10-3 advantage in shots in the first half, but led by just a single goal at halftime.

Earlham continued the offensive pressure in the second half outshooting Bluffton 10-2 in the second half. In total, the Quakers tallied 20 shots compared to five for Bluffton.

The Quakers' defense was superb all afternoon as the Beavers managed only one shot on net, which was saved by freshman goalkeeper Nicola Manni. Earlham also surrendered only two corner kicks and took six.

Senior captain Jacob Ebbs fired six shots with two on net. Dey took three shots.

Earlham improves to 5-5 on the season and 2-1 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) competition. The Quakers continue conference play with a 4 p.m. game against Transylvania on Oct. 14.
