Men's Soccer Scores Late, Edges MSJ 2-1

CINCINNATI, Ohio – Senior TiQi Brown broke a 1-1 deadlock with his first goal of the season propelling the Earlham College men's soccer team to a 2-1 win at Mount St. Joseph on Saturday.

Sophomore Nicholas Dey gave the Quakers a 1-0 lead with his eighth of the season in the 12th minute. Earlham was awarded a free kick which senior Jacob Ebbs swung a cross into the box. The pass found Dey at the far post for the first goal of the contest.

The Lions (6-7-1, 0-4-1 HCAC) equalized at the 38:18 mark as Michael Huber fired a shot off of a free kick beating Earlham goalkeeper Nicola Manni.

The two teams were tied late into the second half, until Brown flicked in a cross from junior Bret Marshall in the 82nd minute.

The Quakers held an 11-7 shots advantage including a 7-2 edge in shots on goal. Earlham earned six corner kicks while MSJ had four.

Manni earned the victory playing all 90 minutes making one save in the game.

Earlham (7-5-0, 4-1-0) is now on a three-game winning streak. The Quakers, who are now in second place in the HCAC, return to action on Oct. 21 for a 3:30 p.m. contest against Rose-Hulman.
