Box Score CINCINNATI, Ohio – Trailing 2-0, junior Michaela Bush scored two goals to give the Earlham College women's soccer team a 2-2 tie at Mount St. Joseph in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) competition on Saturday.
The Lions (7-5-2) took to the offensive early as Morgan Knasel fired a shot into the lower left corner of the net in the seventh minute. Kaylan Gruber should give Mount St. Joseph a two-goal lead with her goal at the 12:15 mark.
Bush got the Quakers within a single goal when she took a pass from fellow junior Abby McCollough and fired a shot from the top of the 18-yard box beating MSJ goalkeeper Lindsey Sturwold at the 27:17 mark of the first half. The Lions would take their 2-1 edge into halftime.
Earlham did not wait long to score in the second half. Bush dribbled up to the top of the box and beat Sturwold once again to knot the game at 2-2. Despite MSJ outshooting Earlham 7-1 in the overtime sessions, the 2-2 score line proved to be final.
Ashley (A.J.) Johnson preserved the draw by making 13 saves in 110 minutes in goal.
The Quakers are back in action at Matlack Field on Oct. 20 against Rose-Hulman. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
