RICHMOND, Ind. – Juniors Abby McCullough and Cherrah Barclay both scored goals, but Rose-Hulman netted four goals including three in the second half to defeat the Earlham College women's soccer team 4-2 at Matlack Field in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) action on Tuesday.

Kate DeMoss gave the Fightin' Engineers the lead with her goal in the 27th minute. The Quakers responded, however, when Barclay found McCollough in the box at the 41:48 mark. McCollough fired a shot beating the two-time HCAC Defensive Most Valuable Player Lucinda Combs to level the game 1-1.

Hayley Gilliam gave Rose-Hulman a 2-1 advantage with her goal in the 51st minute. Once again, Earlham battled back as Barclay found herself open at the top of the box in the 57th minute. The Takoma Park, Md., native took one dribble and fired a shot that deflected off of the post and in.

The Earlham defense could not hold, however, as Rose-Hulman scored two goals in a span of three minutes to take a 4-2 lead.

Both teams took 11 shots in the first half with the Engineers holding a 17-6 edge in the second 45 minutes. Both squads ended up with nine shots on goal.

Individually, Barclay took five shots while McCullough and junior Kelly Mayhew each took four. DeMoss led the Engineers with nine shots.

The Quakers return to action on Saturday at Manchester. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
