RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College men's basketball team trailed by just six at halftime, but a 23-4 run to open the second half gave the Oberlin Yeoman an 81-55 victory over the Quakers at Schuckman Court on Sunday.
Oberlin (4-2) connected on three of its first four triple tries to take a 20-7 lead early in the first half. The lead would grow to as many as 14 before Earlham mounted a comeback. Senior Taylen Alexander then scored the Quakers' next eight points to get Earlham within eight (34-26) with 5:48 to play in the first half.
After an Oberlin basket, Alexander and freshman Alex Topalovic both scored to cut the Yeoman lead to just four points. Matt Walker connected on a jumper to end the first half with Oberlin up 40-34.
Then came the 23-4 run that the Quakers could not come back from.
Oberlin's Jack Poyle led all scorers with 24 points on 7-10 shooting. Randy Ollie added a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
