Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College men's basketball team fell 90-68 on Wednesday to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Defiance College.
Elijah Wilson-Thomas led the Quakers with 19 points against the Yellow Jackets (16-6, 11-4) on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.
Kamari Hunter and Lajay Kelly tossed in 13 points each.
Joe Adams added eight points and six rebounds. Taylen Alexander led the Quakers with eight rebounds.
The Quakers held an early 8-3 advantage after Kyle Smith drilled a 3-pointer at the 17:26 mark.
The Yellow Jackets eventually tied the game before Wilson-Thomas hit a 3-pointer to make it 15-12 with 12:54 remaining in the first half.
After the game was tied again at 24-24, the Yellow Jackets went on a 8-2 run to lead 32-26 at 4:59.
The Quakers responded and took a 33-32 lead when Wilson-Thomas scored with 3:19 left in the opening period.
By the intermission, Defiance led 40-38.
In the second stanza, the Yellow Jackets score the first eight point to build a 48-38 lead by the 17:41 mark.
Hunter hit a 3-pointer for the Quakers to close the gap to 48-41 with 16:42 remaining, but Defiance was able to slowly pull away from that point.
Earlham (0-22, 0-15) plays Franklin College at home on Saturday. The HCAC affair gets underway at 3 p.m.
