Men's Soccer Drops Road Contest at Oberlin

Box Score

OBERLIN, Ohio – Sophomore forward Nicholas Dey scored his fourth goal in three games, but the Yeoman of Oberlin College scored three goals in the first 21 minutes to defeat the Earlham College men's soccer team 4-1 on Sunday.

Oberlin's John Ingham did not waste any time as he opened the scoring 1:18 into the game. After a Timothy Williams goal in the 16th minute, Ingham netted his sixth goal of the season cutting in from the left side and firing a shot to the far post in the 21st minute.

Determined not to go into halftime down by three goals, Dey fired a chip shot from 35 yards out over the outstretched arm of Oberlin netminder Koryn Kraemer in the 37th minute. Oberlin's 3-1 advantage would hold into the second half.

The Yeoman (4-1) scored a late goal when Earlham was pushing numbers forward attempting to score two goals in quick succession and tie the game.

Earlham fired seven shots in the game, four of which were taken by Dey. Oberlin took 25 shots in the game with 13 of them being on net.

Freshman Nicola Manni got the nod in net for the Quakers, and made nine saves in the game.
Earlham dips to 1-3 on the season with the loss. The Quakers return home for their next two contests - vs. Wooster on Sept. 19 at 1 p.m. and Wilmington on Sept. 23 at 4 p.m.
