Box Score TIFFIN, Ohio – Juniors Kelly Mayhew and Michaela Bush found the back of the net, but Heidelberg's Danielle Rathfon provided the Student Princes with a hat trick as the Quakers fell 3-2 on the road on Saturday.
Mayhew opened the scoring in the 10th minute as she settled a cross from junior Cherrah Barclay and beat Heidelberg goalkeeper Alexandra Farmer. Rathfon would score two goals in the first half, one midway through and one in the 43rd minute, to give the Student Princes a 2-1 advantage going into halftime.
Rathfon would score her third goal in the in the 84th minute. Bush kept the Quakers close with a goal a minute later on a pass from junior Abby McCollough, but the Quakers could not find the net again.
Senior Ashley (A.J.) Johnson took the loss, but made nine saves in the game.
Earlham dips to 1-4 on the season and returns to action on Sept. 26 when the Quakers take on Grace Bible College. Kickoff is slated for noon.
