Three Players Finish in Double Figures in Close Loss to Allegheny

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Earlham College men's basketball team had three players finish in double figures in a 66-63 loss at Allegheny College on Saturday afternoon.

Freshman Blake Bonin (12), freshman Thomas Sanborn (11), and sophomore Darrell Hutchison (10) all finished in double digits in scoring while sophomores Elijah Wilson-Thomas and Alex Topalovic each added eight points off of the bench.

Evan Zabriski led all scorers with 18 points off of the bench including seven rebounds. Zach Shedd added a double-double (12 points and 10 rebounds).

Allegheny led 39-32 at halftime, but the Quakers battled back to tie the game 60-60 with three when freshman Tarig Eldosougi hit a pair of free throws with three minutes to play. Two and a half minutes later, sophomore Nick Sands hit two free throws putting the Quakers up 63-62 with 39 seconds to play.

Unfortunately for Earlham, Allegheny scored four points in the final 18 seconds to win.

The Gators held a slight 44-43 rebounding advantage. Both teams dished out 14 assists and committed seven turnovers.

Earlham returns to action on Tuesday for a non-conference match at Kenyon College.
