GAMBIER, Ohio – Kenyon College shot 56 percent from the field en route to an 83-63 victory over the Earlham College men's basketball team on Tuesday evening.

The Lords (1-3) got out to a 32-15 lead in the first 15 minutes, but the Quakers' press gave Kenyon trouble in the final five minutes. Earlham kept the home team to just two field goals over the final five minutes while also forcing three turnovers. Freshman Bailey Stewart hit two free throws in the final ten seconds to pull the Quakers to a 40-31 deficit at halftime.

Early in the second half, Earlham got the Kenyon lead down to eight points on two occasions, once on a free throw from sophomore Nick Sands and one once on a layup from freshman Thomas Sanborn.

Trailing 42-34, the Quakers went cold from the field, scoring just four points over the next 5:45. A three-pointer from senior Kamari Hunter snapped the cold offensive streak, but the Lords led 57-41. Earlham would get as close as a dozen twice, but could get no closer.

Sophomore Darrell Hutchison and freshman Kenneth Stalling, Jr. led the Quakers in scoring with career-high 14-point performances each. Stalling Jr. and freshman Tarig Eldosougi each grabbed seven rebounds.

The duo of Phillip Crampton and Alexander Powell combined for 47 of the Lords' 83 points.

Kenyon made 24 field goals compared to 21 for the Earlham. The Lords made a large difference at the free throw line, making 30-37 attempts while the Quakers converted 17-28 attempts from the charity stripe.

The Earlham press did force 19 Lords turnovers while the Quakers committed just 15 turnovers as a team. Kenyon won the rebounding battle 29-27.
