Box Score TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology shot 67. 5 percent from the field in an 82-66 victory over the Earlham College men's basketball team in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) action on Wednesday.
Earlham fell behind 6-2 early on as the Engineers hit their first two three-point shots from the field. The Quakers answered with a 16-8 run over the next seven minutes capped by a three-pointer from Elijah Wilson-Thomas and a jump shots from sophomore Darrell Hutchison.
Leading 18-14, the Quakers scored just four points over the next seven minutes while Rose-Hulman tallied 13 to take a 27-22 lead. The Engineers kept the pressure on, outscoring Earlham 11-6 over the final four minutes to lead 38-28 at halftime.
Rose-Hulman kept the lead in double digits until a jumper from senior Kamari Hunter followed by two free throws from sophomore Nick Sands at the 11:53 mark of the second half, making the scoring 52-46.
The Engineers then put the game away with a 21-10 run over the next six minutes.
Sophomore Darrell Hutchison led Earlham with 24 points on 9-15 shooting, tying his career high (set at Centre College). Wilson-Thomas was the other Quaker to finish in double figures with 10 points.
Charlie Aimone led all scorers with 36 points on 11-15 shooting from the field including 6-8 from three-point range. Aimone also led the Engineers in rebounding with six boards. John Czarnecki finished 7-7 from the field for 17 points.
The Quakers continue HCAC play at Manchester University on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
