Box Score CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Earlham College men's basketball team fell to the HCAC-leading Mount St. Joseph Lions by a final score of 94-57 on Saturday afternoon.
Earlham got off a hot start in the game, jumping out to an early 9-5 lead five minutes into the game following a three-pointer from Elijah Wilson-Thomas. Earlham managed to lead the top team in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference for most of the first half. The Quakers held a 24-20 lead following another three from Wilson-Thomas with 6:44 left to play in the first period. Mount St. Joseph closed the half on a 20-4 run and Earlham trailed 40-28 at the intermission.
The Lions broke away in the second half, using a 26-12 run over the first eight minutes of action to build a 66-40 lead. The Lions used hot shooting the rest of the game to extend their lead over the Quakers. For the game, MSJ shot 60% (36-60) from the floor. Mount St. Joseph was led by Erik Edwards' 24 points.
Austin Doliboa led Earlham with 13 points and four rebounds. Elijah Wilson-Thomas finished with 11 points and three rebounds.
The loss dropped Earlham to 3-6, 1-3 HCAC. Mt. St. Joseph moved to 6-3, 4-0 HCAC. Earlham will hit the hardwood again on Monday December 18 against Centre. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
