Men's soccer vanquishes Bluffton in HCAC match

Box Score

RICHMOND, Ind. – Sophomore Andrew Strozewski's goal in the 70th minute lifted Earlham College men's soccer to a 1-0 victory over Bluffton University, in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match on Wednesday afternoon at Matlack-Messer Stadium.

After a scoreless opening half, Strozewski finally broke the deadlock in the 70th minute with a high-angle shot that he lofted over the head of Bluffton keeper Tanner Newport, and into the far upper corner of the goal. Caleb Wilgen was credited with an assist on the goal.

Strozewski's goal came with the Quakers playing with an extra field player, after Bluffton's Dalton Taynor, the HCAC's leading scorer, was sent off in the 67th minute with a red card.

Earlham outshot Bluffton, 12-9, with Quakers keeper Colin Kaurich charting seven saves on the day. Newport finished with four stops.

Earlham men's soccer is at home again this weekend as the Quakers host Rose-Hulman in another HCAC clash at Matlack-Messer Stadium. Game time is slated for 3:30 p.m.
