Volleyball falls to #21 Transylvania in HCAC home clash

RICHMOND, Ind. – Earlham College women's volleyball played three tough sets against visiting Transylvania University, before eventually falling to the 21st-ranked Pioneers, 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-22), in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match on Wednesday night at the Druley Performance Gym.

Sophomore outside hitter Sarah Dickman paced the Quakers (13-6, 1-1 HCAC) with 12 kills on 34 swings for a .265 hitting percentage, while junior pin hitter Julia Stewart chalked up nine terminations and hit .250 for the match. Dickman and Stewart each had double-doubles with 10 and 11 digs respectively.

Senior libero Sydney Ameluxen finished with a team-high 17 digs.

Senior setter Lauren Jackson charted 30 assists while leading an Earlham attack that hit at a .162 clip.

However, Transylvania hit .293 over the three sets, led by Ellie Stigger's 21 kills on 34 attacks against just two errors – a .559 attack percentage. Jordan Horne finished with 12 kills while Emmie Bender logged seven terminations.

Earlham women's volleyball returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 12, when the Quakers travel to Cincinnati to face Mount St. Joseph. Game time is slated for 1:00 p.m.
