BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Earlham College senior Lauren Jackson set a new program benchmark for career assists as the Quakers dispatched Luther College, 3-2 (25-20, 20-25, 23-25, 25-10, 15-11), to open play in the Illinois Wesleyan Holiday Inn Express Classic II tournament, on Friday night at the Shirk Center.

Jackson amassed 55 assists in the come-from-behind win over Luther (3-9), giving the senior setter from Tonganoxie, Kansas, a total of 3,432 assists over her four seasons in Maroon and White. She eclipsed the previous mark of 3,414, set by Jen Maure (1997-2000).

Jackson ran an Earlham offense that hit .216 for the match – the Quakers' second-best hitting performance of the season.

Sophomore Caroline Mulvihill led Earlham with a career-high 32 kills on 76 swings for a .316 hitting percentage. Junior Julia Stewart charted a career-high 24 terminations on 60 attacks for a .300 attack clip. Newcomer Erin Wagner tacked on seven kills while Rafaella Shima recorded six kills.

The Quakers rolled up 107 digs on the night, led by senior libero Sydney Ameluxen and Stewart with 20 digs each.

Luther countered with 11.0 total blocks in the match, including two block solos and four block assists from Rachael Luebbe, to go with her eight kills. Paige Yontz tallied a team-high 11 kills and also recorded four block assists. The Norse hit .163 for the match and were aided by 29 Earlham attack errors.

Earlham improved to 7-4 overall with Friday night's victory. The Quakers return to action on Saturday, Sept. 21, when they face the host squad from Illinois Wesleyan. The match will start at 11:00 a.m. ET (10:00 a.m. CT). Earlham will face Lakeland College at 1:30 p.m. ET in its final match of the Illinois Wesleyan tournament.
