HOW IT HAPPENED

Earlham turned in one of its better shooting performances of the season, putting down 25 of its 51 shots (49.0 percent) from the floor, including a 6-of-13 mark from beyond the arc. However, that was no match against a Franklin squad that shot 56.5 percent (35-of-62) from the field and was 12-of-21 (57.1 percent) from long range.

The first half featured six ties and six lead changes, with the Grizzlies' 6-0 surge at the end of the frame sending Franklin into the locker room with a 48-40 lead.

Earlham tried to close the gap on Franklin, getting to within six of the Grizzlies, 55-49, on a 3-pointer and layup from Jamel Barnes Jr. with 15:14 remaining. Franklin survived the Earlham rally, and an 11-0 run just under the nine-minute mark extended the Grizzlies' lead to 84-58 with 4:46 showing on the game clock.
