HOW IT HAPPENED
Earlham turned in one of its better shooting performances of the season, putting down 25 of its 51 shots (49.0 percent) from the floor, including a 6-of-13 mark from beyond the arc. However, that was no match against a Franklin squad that shot 56.5 percent (35-of-62) from the field and was 12-of-21 (57.1 percent) from long range.
The first half featured six ties and six lead changes, with the Grizzlies' 6-0 surge at the end of the frame sending Franklin into the locker room with a 48-40 lead.
Earlham tried to close the gap on Franklin, getting to within six of the Grizzlies, 55-49, on a 3-pointer and layup from Jamel Barnes Jr. with 15:14 remaining. Franklin survived the Earlham rally, and an 11-0 run just under the nine-minute mark extended the Grizzlies' lead to 84-58 with 4:46 showing on the game clock.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
Barnes led Earlham with 16 points on a 7-of-14 shooting performance to go with a team-high five rebounds, with Kenneth Stalling Jr. tacking on 10 points. Blake Bonin dished out seven assists for the Quakers.
Four Franklin players finished in double figures, led by Matt Krause with 21 points and nine boards. Payton Mills added 20 points for the Grizzlies. Sam Gutierrez and Kale Morris contributed 17 and 13 points respectively.
