DEFIANCE, Ohio -- The Earlham College men's soccer team ended its 2021 season with a 3-2 loss to Defiance College on Wednesday.
The Quakers end their campaign at 0-16 (0-9 HCAC0 while the Yellow Jackets finish 9-11 (4-5 HCAC).
Braden Guinn scored the first goal of the match in the sixth minute off of a follow-up shot.
Akire Wadkins took a hard shot from the right side of the Defiance penalty area which beat the goalkeeper but deflected off the post. Guinn was in perfect position to collect the rebound and take a one-touch shot on goal with the goalkeeper out of position.
Defiance netted an equalizer in the next minute of play and the teams were tied 1-1 at halftime.
Coming out of the half, Defiance took the lead in the 63rd minute.
The Quakers scored an equalizer of their own in the 75th minute. Wadkins intercepted a Yellow Jackets pass and took a long shot off of a volley for the score.
The Yellow Jackets scored their game-winning goal in the 79th minute.
The Quakers were narrowly out-shot 17-14, but both sides put 10 shots on target. Defiance dominated the corner kick game 15-2.
Tyler Smith made one save in his start for the Quakers and
Duncan Jordahl took over for the second half with one save.
