Field hockey falls to OWU in overtime

DELAWARE, Ohio -- The Earlham College field hockey team ended its 2021 regular season with a loss to Ohio Wesleyan University 2-1 in overtime. 

The Quakers finish the regular season 15-3 (6-2 NCAC) while the Bishops finish 8-5 (5-3 NCAC). 

OWU scored the first goal of the contest in the 38th minute when the Bishops got a penalty corner attempt. 

Meredith McGraw equalized the score for Earlham in the 57th minute with a penalty stroke goal. 

With the score tied at the end of 60 minutes, the teams headed to overtime competition. 

The Bishops scored a game-winner in the ninth minute of overtime on a penalty corner to take the lead over Earlham. 

The Quakers were out-shot 17-4 and trailed in penalty corners 19-2. 

Meg Murphy collected three saves in goal. 

Earlham concludes its season in second place in the NCAC standings and will host Denison on Tuesday for the first round of the NCAC tournament.
