CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Earlham College men's basketball team took a 66-63 loss at North Park University on Wednesday evening.
The Quakers fell to 1-3 while the Vikings improved to 3-2.
Jaden Terry and
Kolden Vanlandingham led the offense with 17 and 16 points respectively.
Josh Ozanne and
Xavier Barbel led in rebounds with five boards each.
The Quakers struggled early and trailed by double-digits for the majority of the first half, and the deficit stretched to as many as 16 points after 12 minutes of play. A pair of plays in the final minute of the half put Earlham within nine points of the lead.
The Quakers steadily worked the score through the second half and after a jumper from Vanlandingham with 7:29 remaining in the half, trailed by just two points.
North Park responded with a pair of jump shots to extend the lead once again. A 3-pointer and a pair of free throws from
Tommy Makabu brought the deficit down to one with 2:22 remaining.
The Quakers maintained a close gap but could not string together points efficiently enough to take the lead down the stretch and the Vikings were able to extend their lead off of free throws.
Earlham will be back on the court this Saturday as Manchester comes to Druley Performance Gym for a doubleheader with the women's team to begin HCAC competition.
