ANDERSON, Indiana – Earlham College baseball piled up 17 runs on 14 hits and 15 Anderson University walks as the Quakers downed the Ravens, 17-10, in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup on Monday night at Don Brandon Field.
Trailing 6-4 after three innings, Earlham put up three runs in the top of the fourth including two runs that crossed on
Austin Hatfield's single to left-center.
Andrew Bradley singled home the third run later in the frame, giving the Quakers a 7-6 lead.
A seven-run uprising by Earlham in the fifth inning extended the Quakers' lead to 14-6.
Cameron McCabe's single down the right field line plated a pair of runs, and
Marc Gendreau's base hit coupled with an Anderson error allowed two more runs to cross.
Maxwell Fries was hit by a pitch and Hatfield drew a walk – both with bases loaded – to push two more Quaker runs across the plate.
Earlham manufactured two runs in the top of the seventh and Anderson answered with three in the home half of the frame, putting the Quakers' lead at 16-9. Each side tacked on single runs in the ninth for the final 17-10 score.
Justin Dillhoff came out of the pen for the Quakers two batters into the second inning, and went 5.0 innings to pick up the win. He scattered five hits and recorded two strikeouts.
Domanick Michael earned his seventh save of the season after relieving Dillhoff midway through the seventh and finishing off the Ravens.
Pincura went 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBI for the Quakers, while Hatfield had three runs batted in on a 1-for-5 effort at the plate. Fries and McCabe each had three hits, while McCable and Gendreau each charted a pair of RBI.
Justin Reed led Anderson with three hits and four RBI, while Tyler Burton tallied three RBI.
NEXT UP:
Earlham baseball will host Franklin College on Saturday, May 1, at Sadler Stadium. The Quakers and the Grizzlies will start the day at noon by completing their unfinished game from March 27, which stands at 8-8 heading into the 11th inning, followed by the scheduled doubleheader.
