GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- The Earlham College volleyball team recorded its sixth victory in its last seven games against Depauw University on Tuesday evening. The Quakers toppled Depauw in straight sets (25-17, 25-17, 25-18).
The Quakers improved to 9-4 on the season while the Tigers fell to 7-3.
Olivia Kyrk led the attack with 14 kills and attacked at a .455 percentage.
Sarah Dickman scored 11 kills and
Maria Young and
Giselle Mora recorded 10 each.
After recently crossing the 1,000 assists threshold,
Erin Wagner added 43 assists to her total tally.
Jennifer Shamel and
Mallory Cox earned 20 and 19 digs respectively.
As a team, the Quakers attacked at a .278 clip and recorded three blocks.
The first set featured close competition with five lead changes early in the set. A kill by Kyrk started a 9-1 run by Earlham to close out the set in favor of the Quakers.
Earlham led the entire second set, but Depauw kept the score close. The largest lead of the set came at the end with three straight Earlham points.
An 8-1 run for Earlham early in the third set allowed the Quakers to gain a lead and carry momentum through the final set of the evening for a sweep.
Earlham will be back in action with a tri-match at Denison on Saturday. The Quakers will face off against John Carroll at 2 p.m. before battling the Big Red at 4 p.m.
