RICHMOND – The Earlham College men's basketball team continued its strong run with a 78-68 victory over Anderson University on Saturday afternoon. The Quakers have now won four of their last five games since returning from the holiday break.
Earlham improved to 7-9 (3-6 HCAC) while Anderson fell to 13-6 (8-4 HCAC).
Jaden Terry led the Quakers with his third consecutive 20+ point game. The Junior scored 25 points and gathered eight rebounds and four steals on the afternoon.
Kolden Vanlandingham also had a high-powered showing with 17 points and five boards.
The Quakers took the first notable lead when
Tommy Makabu hit a jumper to go up 10-6 just over five minutes into the game. The score began an 11-2 run for Earlham which was led by Vanlandingham and Terry.
Earlham stretched out to a 23-15 lead by the 10:11 mark of the first half before a 6-0 run brought the Ravens up to a two-point deficit.
A pair of scores from Terry gave the Quakers the largest lead of the half with a score of 36-27 with 3:02 remaining. A 4-0 run ended the half for Anderson and the teams headed to the break with a score of 36-31.
A 9-2 run for Earlham kicked off the second half and gave the Quakers a 12-point lead with 17 minutes remaining. The gap for Earlham stabilized through the middle 10 minutes of the half as the Quakers held a lead in the teens through the half.
The Quakers led 74-57 with 5:21 remaining before an 11-0 run from Anderson made the score 74-68 with 1:07 left to play. The Quakers had two possessions in the final minute and made all four of their free throws while holding the Ravens scoreless at the end.
Earlham will be back in Druley Performance Gym on Wednesday evening as Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology comes to Richmond.nTip-oof is slated for 7:30 pm.
