Volleyball takes a set against No.7 WashU

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Earlham College volleyball team concluded the Red and Green Invitational at Washington University with an 0-3 record after two losses on Saturday. 

The Quakers fell to 13-13 on the season. 

GAME ONE: EARLHAM 1   WASHINGTON 3  (20-25, 14-25, 25-23, 19-25)

Liv Kyrk led the offense with an efficient .400 attack percentage and 13 kills. The junior from Cardington, Ohio posted just three attack errors on 25 attempts and added three solo blocks. Maria Young followed with 12 kills and a .171 average. The southpaw also had two aces and 15 digs. 

The offense ran through Erin Wagner as the senior setter posted 33 assists. Jen Shamel led the back line with 16 digs. 

The Quakers averaged a .145 hitting percentage as a team against the No.7 ranked team in the country by the AVCA.  

GAME TWO: EARLHAM 2   WISCONSIN-PLATTEVILLE 3

Young led the offense in game two with 18 kills and a .333 hitting percentage. Erin Wagner dished out 27 assists and Akiko Tajima led the team with 33 serve receptions. 

A full boxscore is currently unavailable for game two. 

The Quakers will take on Rose-Hulman and Bluffton on the road next week in HCAC competition. A win in either game will lock EC into third place in the HCAC standings and allow the Quakers to host a first-round tournament game on November 2.
