Schamel, Roberts lead EC at conference meet

BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Earlham College cross country team competed on the campus of Bluffton University for the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference championship on Saturday afternoon. 

The men's team finished in eighth place in the team competition, led by Alex Roberts in seventh place individually. 

Roberts posted a time of 25:58.8 in the eight kilometer race for the Quakers. Ian Gorley earned a 16th-place result with his finishing time of 26:33.3. 

Lily Schamel led the women's squad in 18th place with a time of 25:09.6 in the 6k race. Jillian Schlieper and Kinzi Brooks followed for the Quake with times of 27:38.5, and 29:27.7 respectively. 

The next outing for the Quakers will be at the Great Lakes Regional Meet hosted by Hope College on November 12. Running is slated to begin at 11 am in Michigan.
