RICHMOND – In a five-set effort with a total of 26 aces, the Earlham College volleyball team emerged victorious over Hanover College in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference competition on Wednesday.
The Quakers improved to 8-9 (1-1 HCAC) while the Panthers fell to 10-9 (1-1 HCAC).
Maria Young scored 17 kills on six errors for a .224 hitting percentage. The junior also had two aces and two blocks on the evening.
Liv Kyrk also recorded double-digit kills with 10, while also putting up four blocks.
Erin Wagner dished out 31 assists to go along with her two aces and 15 digs.
Jen Shamel collected 20 digs and scored two aces.
Sydney Fuller scored a game-high four aces with her serves.
The Quakers totalled 14 aces and seven blocks as a team, and hit at a .111 clip.
The game also served as the HCAC Game of the Week and was broadcast by Indiana SRN from the observation room of Druley Performance Gym on HCAC tv.
The Quakers will continue their conference slate on Saturday at Manchester University. First serve is scheduled for 1 pm.
