RICHMOND – The Earlham College women's basketball team continued its season with a 75-63 loss to Spalding University in Druley Performance Gym on Tuesday evening.
Amari Bradford led the Quakers with a game-high 23 points, the sophomore also tallied a team-high seven rebounds and collected three steals.
Neely Trenshaw made 9-of-10 free throws on the evening and finished with 14 points and six boards.
After a slow opening, the Quakers scored a 7-2 run and trailed 14-11 with just under five minutes left in the first quarter. Four straight points to begin the second frame brought the score to 23-22 with Earlham gaining momentum. Spalding stretched out a 42-33 lead with two minutes remaining before the break, but the Quakers scored seven straight to end the half.
Earlham posted a 36% field goal percentage in the first half of play, and trailed Spalding by just two points at the break.
Spalding started the third quarter with a 14-2 run and led 54-42 with three minutes remaining in the quarter. The Golden Eagles took flight in the final frame, and shot a 40% field goal percentage in the contest.
Earlham will be back in action on Saturday at Adrian College. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 pm in Michigan.
