BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Earlham College women's basketball team continued Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play with an 84-60 loss to Bluffton University on Wednesday evening.
Amari Bradford led a trio of Quakers who scored double-digit points on the evening with 13. She was followed by
Neely Trenshaw and
Janaiya Bright with 12 each.
Alexis Gibson led the team in rebounds with seven.
Bluffton got out to a 19-11 lead at the end of the first 10 minutes of play. The Quakers made just one-of-five 3-point attempts during the opening quarter and shot at a 29% clip from the floor. The Beavers led 19-4 at one point in the quarter, but Earlham scored a 7-0 in the final four minutes of the period.
The Quakers had a massive second quarter to come back and tie the game at 35 heading into halftime. Earlham shot at a 56% accuracy and made three-of-six 3-pointers during the period.
Bluffton regrouped in the third quarter and outscored the Quakers 18-11 to retake the lead. Once again, Earlham struggled shooting, making only 26% of its field goals and one-of-eight 3-point attempts.
Bluffton exploded in the fourth quarter for 31 points while Earlham had its slowest quarter of the night. The Quakers scored just two field goals in the final frame while the Beavers shot at a 60% clip.
Earlham will be back in Druley Performance Gym on Saturday to kick off a doubleheader with the men's squad against Mount St. Joseph. Tip-off is slated for 1 pm.
