RICHMOND – The Earlham College men's lacrosse team is set to begin its 2022 campaign at Wilmington College on Wednesday for the Quaker Bowl rivalry game.
THE SCHEDULE
The opening two games will be contested on the road with the first contest in Darrell Beane Stadium slated for March 9. After battling Heidelberg, the Quakers return to the road before a three-game home stretch to wind down the non-conference schedule. The Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference schedule begins with a home contest against Mount St. Joseph on April 9, followed by a trip from Anderson University to Darrell Beane Stadium. The Quakers travel to Hanover College before a rematch with the Ravens in Anderson. After a home match with Hanover, the Quakers conclude their regular season at Mount St. Joseph on April 30.
THE PLAYERS
Midfielder
Logan Reihing returns to the Quakers for his senior season after leading the team in goals last year. Reihing scored 22 times off of 82 shots and dished out three assists. Leading the attack will be junior
Sam Sargent. Sargent tallied 12 goals and seven assists in just six games last season as a sophomore. Holding down the fort will be do-it-all midfielder
Donovan Shea. Shea led the Quakers in ground balls and caused turnovers last season with 99 and 28 respectively. He also served as the primary face-off man with a 33% win rate in the circle.
THE COACHES
Blake Keenan returns to the helm for his third season with the Quakers. Taking over just before the COVID-19 pandemic, Earlham played just four games in his opening season. 2021 saw Keenan record his first win with the program with a 16-2 victory over Edgewood in Darrell Beane Stadium.
HCLC OUTLOOK
The Quakers were picked eighth in the HCLC preseason poll with 22 votes. Seventh place belonged to Centenary College with 23 votes and MSJ took the sixth spot with 29 votes. The highest voted school in the midwest region was Hanover in third place with 48 votes.
