RICHMOND – The Earlham College baseball team battled Wittenberg University to a 3-2 loss in Sadler Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The Quakers fell to 7-2 while the Tigers improved to 6-3.
Nathan Lancianese recorded three hits on three at-bats to lead the Quaker bats on the evening.
Maxwell Fries recorded one double.
David Lally started the day on the mound for Earlham and faced nine batters.
Justin Dillhoff tallied three strikeouts in relief.
The Tigers hit a pair of home runs to left-center field in the top of the fourth and fifth innings after leaving at least one runner stranded in each of the first three innings.
A double to left field brought in another run in the top of the sixth inning to put the visitors up 3-0.
Fries came home as the first run for Ealrham in the bottom of the seventh inning after dashing to the plate on a passed ball. The Quakers then left two runners on base at the end of the seventh frame.

Phoenix Guzzi was mishandled by the Tiger outfielder which allowed an extra base for Guzzi and for pinch-runner
Cameron Powell to reach home on the play.
The Quakers were caught on three pick off plays and were stopped in the act of stealing once by the Tiger pitchers.
Earlham will host Oberlin College on Friday evening to begin a three-game weekend series with the Yeomen in Sadler Stadium. First pitch is slated for 7 pm.
