CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Earlham College men's lacrosse team concluded its 2022 season with a loss at Mount St. Joseph University in HCLC competition 14-6.
The Quakers fell to 2-14 (0-3 HCLC) while the Lions improved to 5-11 (1-2 HCLC).
Elijah Gamber led the Quaker offense with three goals and one assist.
Sam Sargent tallied a pair of goals on the afternoon and
Christian Navarez scored one goal while dishing out an assist.
Benjamin Adkins led the defense with four caused turnovers and two ground balls.
Emmitt Shaughnessy collected 14 saves in the cage.
Neither offense made much progress in the first quarter with the Lions leading 2-0 at the end of 15 minutes.
The home squad netted two more goals in the opening four minutes of the second frame to lead 4-0 before a run of four consecutive Earlham goals.
Gamber scored two goals within a minute of game time with an assist from
Kevin Ventura. Within five minutes, Sargent and Navares also put shots into the back of the cage.
MSJ went on to score four more goals to end the quarter, and led 8-4 at halftime.
Gamber recorded his final goal of the day with 2:39 remaining in the third frame, and assisted Sargent on a fourth-quarter goal.
As a team, the Quakers registered 37 shots and an 85% clear rate.
The Quakers conclude their season with a fourth place finish in the HCLC North Division, and achieved the program record for most goals in a game after a 16-0 win over Concordia Chicago.
