CARMEL, Ind. – On Monday, the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced that Makayla Hurey of Earlham women's soccer won this week's Defensive Player of the Week honors. 

Hurey collected nine saves with only one goal allowed this week as the Quakers went 1-0-1 in HCAC competition. The junior recorded three saves and her second shutout of the season in a 4-0 win over Manchester on Homecoming. Hurey also brought in six saves in a 1-1 tie against Bluffton on Wednesday.

In 1,080 minutes on the season, Hurey has a .784 save percentage with nearly 200 shots faced. 

The Quakers continue action on Wednesday at Transylvania University. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 pm.
