RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College men's soccer team fell to Transylvania University 2-1 in Matlack-Messer Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
The Quakers fell to 3-8-4 (1-4-2 HCAC) while the Pioneers improved to 3-6-4 (2-3-1 HCAC).
The Pioneers took the lead in just the second minute of play, and the visitors added the winning goal in the 43rd minute.
Trailing 2-0,
Quentin Berry scored a consolation goal on a deflected corner kick with an assist from
Braden Guinn.
Berry nearly had a second score in the 57th minute, but a sliding Pioneer defender saved a goal in the play.
The Quakers were outshot 23-8, and trailed 9-5 in corner kicks.
Tyler Smith collected five saves in the opening half in goal, while
Duncan Jordahl made two saves.
Earlham will be back in action on Saturday at Franklin College. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 pm in the doubleheader.
