Field hockey loses overtime battle

RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College field hockey team battled Transylvania in a 3-2 overtime loss in Darrell Beane Stadium on Wednesday evening. 

The Quakers fell to 2-14 (1-9 NCAC) while the Pioneers improved to 5-12 (1-8 NCAC).

Piper Brill scored the first goal of the game in the 10th minute of action.

The Pioneers responded with a goal in the first minute of the second quarter, and another 10 minutes later. 

Kaylee Griffin scored on a penalty corner with less than four minutes remaining in regulation. 

Just five minutes into the overtime period, the Pioneers drew a penalty stroke, and converted the score to win.

Earlham was narrowly outshot 13-10, and led in penalty corners 14-5. 

Griffin saw the most opportunities on offense with three shots on goal. 

Rachel Alma collected four saves in the cage. 

The Quakers will end their season on Saturday at Centre College at 1:30 pm.
