RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College men's basketball team concluded the Melissa Johnson/Hope Classic with an 81-57 loss to Capital University on Sunday afternoon.
Kendall Cave earned all-tournament honors with 24 points and seven rebounds in the finale.
Joffrey Nunnally reached double-digits with 10 points.
Jackson Rhodes led the team in steals with three, and
Ken Walker dished out five assists.
As a team, the Quakers were 5-of-6 from the free throw line, and 36% on field goals. Earlham scored a 7-0 run in the opening four minutes, and led 9-4 over the Comets. The Quakers led by as many as nine points in the first half, with Capital staying in stride with the tournament hosts.
After a 3-pointer from Nunnally to begin the second half, the Comets scored a 23-4 run, and the visitors flipped the score to lead by 12 after five minutes. A 12-2 run later in the half gave Capital a 66-47 lead with just under nine minutes remaining in the game.
The Quakers host Wilmington College next Saturday at 4 pm in Druley Performance Gym.
