This Week in Quaker Athletics
Women's Basketball and Men's Basketball double-header at 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
The Women's basketball team (1-1) will begin HCAC Conference play vs Hanover College (1-1). Hanover College was voted second place in the HCAC Preseason Poll. The Hanover College Panthers will be led by Junior Forward Grace Bezold who scored 41 points in a win over Simpson College. Watch out for a battle between Alexis Gibson and Bezold this weekend as they both sit atop the scoring leaders in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

The Men's Basketball team will be taking on Wilmington College (1-1) in the Quaker Bowl Rivalry. Earlham holds the MBB series lead at 6-2 all-time, winning the most recent matchup 79-76 in 2019. Earlham will be led by Freshman standout Cave, who sits second amongst all scorers in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, averaging 20 points per game.Â
Last Week…Â
Over the weekend, Earlham College hosted the First Annual Melissa Johnson / Hope Classic. The tournament featured six basketball programs playing at Earlham College's Druley Performance Gym. On the Men's Basketball side, the teams were Earlham College, Capital University (Columbus, Ohio), and Carroll University (Waukesha, Wis.). On the Women's Basketball side, the teams were Earlham College, Miami University Middletown (Middletown, Ohio), and Albion College (Albion, Mich.).

Friday
The Women's Basketball team dominated Miami University Middletown, with a resounding win. The final score was 80-34. The Quakers were led by the dynamic Junior duo Alexis Gibson and Jay Bright. Alexis Gibson recorded a game-high 24 points while reeling in 11 rebounds to record her first double-double of the season. Bright scored 11 points while playing some lockdown defense, recording a game-high four steals. Amari Wright springboarded her Freshman campaign with 14 points on the evening.

Head Coach Joe Adams '14 and Assistant Coach Nicole Sims recorded their first victories as the coaches of the Women's Basketball Program.

Saturday
The Men's and Women's Cross Country teams competed at John Carroll University (University Heights, Ohio) at the Great Lakes Regional. Connor Del Carmen led the men's team, finishing 45th with a time of 24:55:7 followed by Ethan Rose at 27:44:6. Lily Schamel led the women's team in the 6k with a time of 25:42:4. Katelyn Trotto finished just two minutes behind Schamel.

The Men's Basketball team fell to Carroll University, 74-75, on Saturday. During Saturday's contest, the Quakers had four double-digit scorers Joffrey Nunnally, Ken Walker, and Kendall Cave, all scoring 14 points followed by Milan Kennedy with 13 points.

Sunday
The Men's basketball team fell to Capital University 57-81, the Quakers struggled in the second half after taking the lead into halftime 35-33. The Quakers shot 29% from the field in the second half in comparison to 45% from the field in the first half. The Capital University Comets were red-hot from the field, shooting 61% for the game and 71% in the second half. Cave led the Quakers in scoring with 24 points and seven rebounds.

The Women's Basketball team fell to Albion with a final score of 48-97. Alexis Gibson and Bright led the Quakers in scoring with 14 a piece. The Quakers struggled from the 3-Point line in the contest vs Albion, going 0-14.
