Baseball falls to Hanover

HANOVER, Ind. – The Earlham College baseball team was swept by Hanover College on Saturday afternoon, with final scores of 11-5 and 17-6. 

Dillon Fischer got the start on the mound in game one, and threw 5.2 innings in the loss with nine hits and seven earned runs. The junior struck out nine batters, and allowed just two walks. Matt Morris and Dawson Hope both pitched an inning of relief, with two earned runs charged each. 

Hayden Scalf got the start in game two, with two innings pitched and five earned runs on seven hits. Justin Dillhoff pitched two innings and was charged with the loss with five runs on six hits. 

Mitchell Roether went 4-for-4 at the plate in game two, and scored three runs on the day with three RBI, with a solo homer in the second matchup. Sean Jeffries led the Quake in game one with two hits and two RBI off of a seventh inning double. Nathan Lancianese had three hits on seven at bats, and scored two runs on the day. 

The Quakers will be back in action next weekend in Sadler Stadium against Defiance College. The three-game series begins on Friday evening, with first pitch at 6 pm.
