RICHMOND – The Earlham College men's soccer team is set to begin its 2023 slate on Friday against Concordia University Chicago at 5 pm in Matlack-Messer Stadium.
THE SCHEDULE
After Concordia, the Quakers will host The University of Cincinnati-Clermont on Saturday for another 5 pm matchup. A Tuesday-evening matchup at Spalding leads into a five-game road streak heading into the conference slate. The HCAC schedule begins at Hanover College on September 27 at 3:30 pm. The Quakers take on Manchester on October 14 for Homecoming and Senior Day at 3:30 pm in Matlack-Messer Stadium. The season concludes on October 25 against Anderson at home.
THE PLAYERS
Four Quakers were named "Athletes to Watch" by the HCAC leading into the season.
Quentin Berry was named to the second team All-HCAC last year with four goals and five assists. During the course of the season, he tallied over 1,300 minutes and started in all 16 games.
Braden Guinn earned honorable mention last year after leading the Quakers in goals with five, including two game-winners.
Devin Fitzgibbon returns to the midfield after dishing out two assists last season. As a sophomore, he started in 12 games, and took 12 shots. Fitzgibbon was also named as an HCAC Honorable Mention as a freshman in 2021.
Andre Moriel saw action in all 16 games last season as a freshman in the Quaker midfield. In his first season, he tallied three goals and one assist.
PRESEASON POLL
Earlham was picked ninth in the 2023 HCAC Preseason Poll with 21 votes. The Quakers were narrowly behind Defiance, who came away with 23 votes in eighth place.
THE COACHES
Aaron Gustine returns at the helm of the Quakers alongside
Darin Douglas for 2023. The 2023 campaign marks Gustine's fifth as head coach.
